The Light that Returns: Two Hassidic Perspectives on  the process of Teshuvah in the thought of the Ma’or VaShemesh | Dena Weiss

The Ma’or VaShemesh (R’ Kalonymous Kalman Epstein) is one of the Hassidic literature’s foundational figures. Central to his thought is the role of Teshuvah, not only as a process of reconciliation after sin, but as the primary mode of Avodat HaShem. In this class we’ll learn about his perspective on Teshuvah through two different lenses: the communal Teshuvah that is unique to Elul and Tishrei and the personal Teshuvah that occurs all year round and all day long. We’ll ask: What is the most effective way to do Teshuvah and why is it so central?
